摘要(Abstract): Blackhole X-ray binaries frequently exhibit quasi-periodic oscillations (QPOs) in their X-ray flux. Although these signals are strong and readily measurable, their physical origin has long remained elusive. Recent observational and theoretical advances, however, have significantly deepened our understanding. In this report, we first review the phenomenology of the various QPO classes observed in black-hole systems, with particular emphasis on low-frequency QPOs, where much of the recent progress has been made. We then introduce several key timing instruments-RXTE, XMM-Newton, and Chandra-and outline, in detail, the data-processing procedures employed for each. Finally, we discuss the scientific insights that these timing analyses can provide.

报告人简介(Bio)萧宏铧SIEWHOONG WAH2025年硕士毕业于上海交通大学,也是上海交通大学物理与天文学院天文系首届本科生,曾获优秀来华留学生奖学金2019、天文系特等奖学金2019、国家天文台奖学金2019、国际研究生中国政府奖学金2022以及上海交通人学留学生优秀毕业生2022年和2025,主要研究方向为利用X射线卫星观测数据研究星系群内介质的物理过程,目前研究兴趣还包括使用X射线光变和光谱数据分析致密天体的时变过程。
