报告题目:Perspective of Quantum Cosmology

报告人:Professor Sang Pyo Kim

报告时间:上午 11:00—12:00

报告地点:理A110

题目:Perspective of Quantum Cosmology

时间地点:87上午 1100—1200  A110

报告人:Sang Pyo Kimprofessor of Department of Physics, Kunsan National University. Visiting professor of Institute of Theoretical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China. He got his PhD from Pennsylvania State University, Pennsylvania, U.S.A. in 1991(Supervisor: Don N. Page).

报告简介:Quantum cosmology, quantizing both spacetimes and matter fields, is believed to describe the evolution of the universe from the Planckian regime to the present universe. The cosmological standard model governed by the general relativity seems to very accurately describe recent observations. In this talk, I review the geometrodynamical approach to quantum cosmology based on the Wheeler-DeWitt equation, compare with other approaches, such as the Hartle-Hawking no-boundary wave function, hybrid quantum cosmology, and discuss the third quantized formulation of quantum cosmology for the Friedmann-Robertson-Walker universe. Then, using both the Born-Oppenheimer idea and the de Broglie-Bohm interpretation of the wavefunction, the transitions from quantum cosmology to semiclassical cosmology and then to classical cosmology are derived and explained. Within this framework, it is shown how to compute physical observable quantities, such as density perturbations, and how to substantiate quantum cosmology for observations.
