Title: Loop space structures induced from the collections of geometric groups

Abstract: The loop space has been an essential gadget in topology. A monoid structure in a category gives rise to a loop space through the classifying space construction. The collection of some geometric groups, like braid groups and mapping class groups, generate some iterated loop space structure. I will explain the Harer conjecture and its proof in which the loop space structures play a key role. I will also introduce the most general form of the Harer conjecture which is still open.
