报告摘要:The weak cosmic censorship conjecture is perhaps the most important open problem in classical general relativity. Our recent work shows that the vacuum Einstein equations in 5+1 dimensions admit solutions describing naked singularity formation in gravitational collapse from nonsingular asymptotically locally flat initial data. We present a class of specific examples with spherical extra dimensions. Thanks to the Kaluza-Klein dimensional reduction, these spacetimes are constructed by lifting continuously self-similar solutions of the 4-dimensional Einstein-scalar field system with a negative exponential potential. Their existence provides a new test-bed for weak cosmic censorship in higher-dimensional gravity. This is a joint work with Xinliang An.

张雪峰,2012年于美国新墨西哥大学获得物理学博士学位,2013年在北京师范大学物理系引力研究中心及天文系从事博士后研究,2016年加盟中山大学物理与天文学院天琴研究中心,任特聘副研究员。研究领域为引力波、引力塌缩、黑洞与裸奇点形成、数学与数值相对论等。
