摘要:The interaction of a Bose-Einstein condensate with a single light mode of a resonator may lead to fundamental collective phenomena ranging from classical self-organization to Dicke quantum phase transitions. I will discuss the special case of a ring resonator which supports two independent modes propagating in opposite directions. Above a critical pump power a dynamical instability is observed similar to the phase transition known from standing wave cavities. The stability diagram can be qualitatively explained with a simple classical model. Links to Schwinger pair production and exceptional points are discussed.
