摘要:Classical mechanics, as usually formulated, seems to inhabit a different
conceptual universe from quantum mechanics. Koopman and von
Neumann developed a mathematical formulation of classical mechanics using
concepts usually associated with quantum theory. In this formulation
we have wave functions, Hilbert spaces, operators, ... . The Koopman-von
Neumann (KvN) formulation has proved useful as a technical device in several
applications, notably in ergodic theory. It deserves to be better known
among physicists, because it gives a new perspective on the conceptual foundations
of quantum theory, and it may suggest new kinds of approximations
and even new kinds of theories (which is what we'll be heading toward).
